This coffee is freaking amazing. Earthy and rich with low acidity is pretty much perfect in my book. I fell in love with coffee from Sumatra while honeymooning across Indonesia 14 years ago but haven't been able to have it very often after that, until now. This is my weekend morning cup of life-is-good awesomeness, a small pleasure that I really look forward to. Small pleasures make the world go round!

The video looked good, so I got my (first) batch of 10. Too cool! So convenient and a really good cuppa coffee. I'll be taking it on the road, so as to be sure to start my mornings (and take my afternoon breaks) with the makings within arm's reach.

A Fun Story for a Fun Coffee

Did you know not all Mandheling coffee is from Mandheling? During WWII, a Japanese soldier stationed in Sumatra inquired a local Sumatran about their coffee and where it was from. The Sumatran thought he was asking where he was from, so he replied, “Mandheling.”

The misinformation then spread all throughout Japan, which then spread across the world, and now has become a generic name for the low acid, complex body coffee produced in North Sumatra.
